World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M spectators across the US, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
