The tournament joins the American and Australian Opens in utilizing video review technology.
Replay technology will be launched at The Championships this year.
Players will gain the right to contest particular rulings made by the official, mirroring the protocol currently in use at each of the US Open and the Australian Open.
This technology will be accessible on the main stadium and the number one court for the duration of the tournament and on the remaining show courts when they are staging singles contests.
This move follows just a season following the AELTC implemented electronic line calling, which terminated the 147-year role of line judges.
Reviewable Decisions
Competitors cannot to dispute the accuracy of the ELC system, but are allowed to request the official to re-examine specific decisions, such as:
- If a ball has bounced twice.
- If a shot made contact with an opponent's racquet or person on the way past.
- Potential hindrance at the conclusion of a rally.
Notably, there will be no limit on the amount of challenges a competitor can initiate.
A Recent Example
A recent case took place in Indian Wells last week, where Daniil Medvedev used the review system against Jack Draper.
Draper conceded it was a difficult call for the official, but believed his opponent had "played the rules quite well."
Official Aurelie Tourte watched a video and ruled the player was guilty of hindrance, awarding the point to his opponent.
Broader Adoption
This technology aren't exclusive to major tournaments. It has been in use at the American major since 2023 and the Australian Open since 2025.
Furthermore, it is becoming more common on the women’s WTA Tour, and by next season the ATP circuit will have the system in place at every one of its events.
Additional Innovations
Another innovation at The Championships this year will be the addition of visual indicators on displays to complement the verbal announcements from the ELC system.
This addresses instances where fans have occasionally been uncertain whether a ball was out or in.
In other news, with exactly 100 days to go until the start of the Championships, the AELTC have also announced an increase in daily capacity at the qualifiers in Roehampton.
